“What does it say about the college coed Susan [sic] Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”
– Rush Limbaugh, The Rush Limbaugh Show from February 28 segment titled “Butt Sisters are Safe from Newt and Rick.”

UNIVERSITY of Vermont – If you are one of the millions of parents or students look at colleges or already making monthly payments to pay for a college education, how would you feel if you learned your money is being spent to allow a Limbaugh station to call itself the voice of that college’s sports teams?

So much for the progressive reputation Vermonters always seemed so proud to wear. See story here and comment, please.  In response to the calls from local residents and students for the college to disassociate itself from Rush Radio, the university’s chancellor made a move that he felt was a compromise by asking that Rush’s show not be promoted (advertised) during the Catamounts’s games.

That misses the point.    If, in order to listen to your team play on the radio, you need to tune into a “Rush Radio” station you are essentially supporting his show, and more likely to keep that radio on the Rush Radio number on your dial.   Furthermore, the UVM Women’s Basketball team is covered by this station!  Just because they’ve asked the program manager to not promote Limbaugh’s show during the games, doesn’t change the fact that “The Voice of the Catamounts” is also “Rush Radio.” This attack on Ms. Fluke is not the first time Limbaugh has denigrated women with his missives of misogyny; it is a regular practice, as are racist, ethnic and anti-Semitic comments, that, whether you agree on the premise of his arguments or not, insult common decency.

Contact UVM’s Administration – tell them to end their association/agreement with Rush Radio WVMT 620 – contact information below.

If your local station is carrying both a local college’s team’s games and Rush’s show, lets let those paying for the education know about it. Let the college administration know about it and and contact local media asking them about the situation and suggesting they do a story about it. Leave us a comment w/the information and we will share it here.

“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Cripts without any weapons. There, I said it.” Rush Limbaugh
