A Fargo, ND Station Switches from Classic Rock to Rush(?!)

If this programming change has you angry, confused or disgusted, join us in asking them why … and letting them know how you feel – contact the station,  “like” these two facebook pages and add to their discussion: Hate 102Bring Rock Back.)

As the movement to Boycott Rush Limbaugh and anyone who sponsors his show is growing across the country and even into Canada, Europe and Australia, a local radio station in North Dakota is bucking the trend and moving from Classic Rock to Hate-Radio. Today  their lunchtime programming went from familiar favorites like Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones to three hours of twisted talk with Rush Limbaugh.

Why? What compels radio executives to move forward with these plans at a time when the spotlight is shinning on the misogyny riddled rhetoric spread throughout the public airways by the leader of the GOP far right? Why move backward? What need are they filling?  Is anyone in the Fargo Moorhead area worried about the brainwashing effect Limbaugh has over his targeted audience? Where are the women of ND? Do they know what is at stake?

Limbaugh is the 5 star general working the front lines of the War on Women. He has no children and is on “Marriage Number Five,” for which all know his Viagra is a medical necessity. (We are all paying for “it!”) He is fat and happy and rich and this kind of move is going to make thinning him out, a little harder.

Fargo What is Going ON?  Help the effort to fight this new station -Let’s find out who is advertising on this filthy new Rock-Replacement show in ND and let them know how we all feel!

Welcome to the club. We are going through the same thing in San Francisco except we lost our local talk radio station to Cumulus Media and they destroyed it by taking it all news. Now Cumulus is offering up Huckabee as an alternative to Rush and we don’t want to be inundated with either of them! Look up what Michaels Copps, formerly of the FCC, has to say about media consolidation. And, what about the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the deregulation of the broadcasting market.

The sad thing is, our local Clear Channel station took on some of the fired talk hosts, but only in the afternoon after a morning of Limbaugh. ugh! It’s a big mess. I’m interested in finding out what we, the listeners of radio, can do about it now.

I’ll be back to read more of your blog. It looks interesting with some good information.

there is a lot of debate about how the money trail goes from Rush to Premiere Radio – which is owned by Clear Channel -(btw financed by Bain – Romney) but the fact is, you have the most influence at the local level. Who advertises on the stations? Do those advertisers have a competitor? Do either of those stations play the local professional sports teams games and call themselves the official radio station of that team – 49ers or Giants? Contact that teams ownership and tell them you are livid that your team is covered by an affiliate of one of these shows … you have the power, in your pocketbook. And, contact the FCC – ask them why this isn’t a violation of anti – trust laws….. I’ve been wondering if the FCC would respond if the language limbaugh uses were on TV networks. What is the standard?
I have a freind who is a police chief who once told me that he hears so often that the “police never do anything” but if he can speak to whomever makes that complaint,he often finds that whatever they are refering to is never reported. Report it, ask the question. Chances are, no one else is doing it! Federal Communications Commission

Hi, all very good points, and something we’ve been doing here. Contacting the advertisers, etc. As for the FCC, if you read Michael Copps interview with Democracy Now! he says the people who make up the FCC don’t really care. He’d been warning them about it the entire time he was FCC chairman. Now that’s he’s stepped down, he’s able to speak more openly about it.

I’ll be back to read your article about this.

just published – and I am going to suggest a little later that if we get no where w/the newer head of the FCC, that we keep going up the ladder until someone listens.

Clearly, you don’t have daughters. Limbaugh has taken the discussion to a level lower than low. Tell me Walter, as a man I have thought about this and can’t come up with an answer…. what words can diminish, demean and reduce a man the way slut and whore do? Throw Bill Maher back and I’ll tell you three things.
    1. Start a boycott (against HBO?)
    2. He, like howard stern was relegated to a pay to play station, thus my boycott is not to use that service.
    3. Maher is a misogynist in his own right.

Limbo influences an army of lambs.
For crying out loud, he has you all so whipped you call yourselves “dittoheads” I mean, do you get what that means?

  1. No trackbacks yet.

We moderate comments, really. We aren't interested in debate or comments from Limbaugh fans. We appreciate information on Limbaugh's advertisers, sponsors, and afflilates. Thank you.
